Pam's Coffee Table

This is a commissioned piece that I've just finished.

This rustic style coffee table looks great and we will hopefully be doing a matching end table soon too!

Rhett and Cheeri's Built-in Diffuser

I recently finished this sound diffuser. The project involved various aspects of what the husband and wife both wanted.

For him it was all about function, something to diffuse the sound and get the most out of his hifi setup.

For her it needed to look good.

What we settled on was a full wall diffuser with built in lighting and several shelves.

Unfortunately, it is hard to see just how cool this thing is unless you are seeing it in person, but here are a few pics anyways...

Doughnut Bench

Just finished this commissioned piece made from a piece of 3x14 joist that came out of an old doughnut factory in Indiana. It is one of those pieces that you really wish you could keep!

This design uses no nails or screws, just glue and dowel joints.

Working on the leg joints.
Glued up and ready to sand and finish.

Finished.

Creating Something New

There are many reasons to love woodworking. Not the least of these is the ability to express your creativity with the things you make.

I spend countless hours thinking about and planning new things to make. Some of them I never get to, while others I run straight to the shop and get started.

Pictured above is one of my most recent ideas. I’m not in love with the look yet, or the function for that matter. But it is VERY close to what I have in mind.

The process of developing an idea this is kind of funny. This time I spent hours thinking about what I wanted (mostly laying in bed when I should have been sleeping) and then whipped up a quick prototype – I like that word cause it makes it sound fancy when I make something that needs tweaking – in about 20 minutes.

It’s almost there, in fact I am going to keep this one for myself, and have already been using it. Hopefully within a few days I will have the time to play with it a little more and have one available in
the shop.

What the heck is it?

It’s an iphone (or any smartphone) stand that also amplifies the sound while you listen to music, watch video, or use facetime on the phone.

I actually got the idea because I’ve been improvising something similar using acoustics for a long time…the speakers on most phones aren’t very loud when there is anything else going on around you.

Let me know what you think…and keep an eye out for these puppies in the shop any day now!

Welcome to the New Website!

Welcome to the NEW website!

This page will host my blog, links to my shop, a gallery of woodworking images (available to purchase), and will serve as the home for Kevin Davis Wood Work.

Check back often, because I will be updating with new blog posts, videos, and images frequently.

Most of what you will find here is related to my woodworking but since I have a background in, and a passion for, health and fitness you will occasionally find info about that as well. I may even write periodically about random things that are going on in the news or in my life.
